BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Now in its 15th year, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has been running an essay contest for first graders in the state called 'My Ideal School.'

Ten regional winners from Cape Cod to the Berkshires gathered at the Massachusetts Statehouse Wednesday to present their winning ideas.

Violet from Methuen imagines a school designed like a hot pink castle featuring hearts and rainbows, and a petting zoo.

Hope's ideal school is covered in a zebra print and decorated with butterflies, while Jeremy's school is shamrock green.

State Treasurer Deb Goldberg chairs the MSBA Board of Directors. "It gives the kids a chance to talk about what they would love to see if they could dream," she said.

All of the winners received prize money.

The grand prize winner was Alayna Lonergan of East Taunton Elementary School.
