BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston’s Franklin Park has begun its 2026 Winter Festival, presented by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department.

The three-day winter festival kicked off Thursday with a free stable tour and snowshoeing safari, where people could strap on some snowshoes and take a walking tour with Boston park rangers around snowy Franklin Park. Executive Director of Franklin Park, Luis Perez Demorizi, said it couldn’t have been a better day to take the tour.

“The winter festival is the city of Boston’s way of bringing some fun to the winter,” said Demorizi. “It was great, it was nice and sunny, a beautiful day to do it.”

Boston Latin School teacher Raquelle came to the tour with her husband, making sure to take advantage of the Feb. vacation.

“It was the first time I went further than my street in front of my house,” said Raquelle. “It wasn’t very hard, it was beautiful.”

Other winter festival activities include the ‘Horse-Of-Course’ event on Friday, Feb. 20, where people can meet the park ranger horses. There will also be a celebration at Franklin Park on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to end the festival.
