WINTHROP, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mark Queen said he usually shutters his Winthrop ice cream parlor in the winter.
This year, he dusted off the scoops in January.
He told WBZ NewsRadio's Carl Stevens Twist & Shake's new alcoholic ice cream lured flocks of customers into the shop despite cold weather.
"They've been really popular," Queen said. "It's going to go crazy when the summer hits."
Tipsy Scoop, a New York City "barlour," makes the liquor-infused ice cream and sorbet.
Queen started ordering pints from New York and selling them at his shop in February.
Tipsy Scoops come in flavors like dark chocolate whiskey and mango margarita.
Queen said they helped keep Twist & Shake afloat through the winter.
"This is actually the first season we've opened up in January," Queen said. "We took a three-week break around Christmas, we came back and we're killing it. The people are loving ice cream all year long."
