BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Spring has formally sprung, which means it's the season of itching and sneezing for those with allergies.

The Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America is out with its annual Allergy Capitals Report for 2023. The report includes a list of the 100 biggest cities in the continental U.S., ranking the cities worst through best for people with allergies and asthma.

Local cities came away reasonably well, though Worcester was in the "red zone," ranked number 27 worst overall. Boston was comparatively better-off, at number 55, while Springfield came in at 34.

The report looks at pollen scores, over the counter medication use and the number of allergy specialists in the area. Wichita, Kansas comes in at number one worst, while the best overall was Buffalo, New York.

The report mentions that pollen seasons have been getting longer and more intense, likely because of climate change.
