BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 24-year-old woman is facing an armed robbery charge after she allegedly tased and robbed a man she met on a dating app at a Boston hotel.

Boston Police responded to a call about an armed robbery the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Avenue De Lafayette shortly before noon on Tuesday.

The victim told officers he had connected with the woman on a dating app, and they had met in person in the hotel lobby before going up to her hotel room.

After they talked for about thirty minutes, the victim said the woman pulled out a taser and held it to him while she rummaged through his pockets. He said the suspect stole over $100 from him before he was able to run out of the room and notify the hotel’s security staff, who in turn called police.

When officers went up to the suspect’s hotel room, she denied knowing the victim and said she had never seen him before.

BPD said she eventually became "completely uncooperative" and started FaceTiming another man, before officers found a pink taser on top of her luggage and took her into custody.

The suspect, 24-year-old Selena Rivera-Apodaca of Kent, Washington, is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on the charge of Armed Robbery.
