TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A woman is dead following a fire that broke out at a home in Tyngsborough Thursday morning.
Tyngsborough Police said they received a call just before 9:30 a.m. about a fire at a home located on 24 Fletcher Drive.
Upon arrival, crews found multiple people were trapped inside the single-family home. A Tyngsborough police officer helped one resident out of the building and they were treated for their injuries on scene.

Another resident, an adult female who was trapped in a bedroom on the second floor, was not pulled out of the building until Tyngsborough firefighters arrived. Police were unable to get to her because of heavy smoke conditions.
She was then taken to Lowell General Hospital for medical treatment but did not survive. Her identity has yet to be released.
Fire departments from Dracut, Dunstable and Nashua, New Hampshire also responded to the scene for assistance. The Red Cross was also on site to help the displaced residents.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
