NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A North Andover woman and her dog have been reunited after the pet got lost following the Merrimack Valley gas explosions last year.
On Tuesday, Altagracia Baldera received a phone call that a police officer in Lawrence had found her 14-year-old dog, Virgo.
“I thank him because he really make the difference,” Baldera said.
Despite a whole year passing, Baldera never gave up hope of finding the Pekingese Shih Tzu mix.
Baldera had to stay in her sister’s home in Lawrence following the explosions. That’s where Virgo got lost, after running out of the house.
Baldera believes someone had the dog the entire time he was missing, and had neglected him.
“I have [sic] to give him three showers,” Baldera said.
Animal control was able to locate Virgo because he had a tracking chip. Now, Baldera is encouraging other owners to chip their pets.
