Woosox Sued By Former Host City

PAWTUCKET, R.I (WBZ NewsRadio) Ahead of their first season in Worcester, the Worcester Red Sox are being sued by their former host city of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

In an eight page court filing, the City of Pawtucket alleged the triple-A baseball team has not paid the city for maintenance and repairs on McCoy Stadium.

Pawtucket argues that the city’s taxpayers would now be the ones who have to pay up if the stadium’s former occupants do not.

The Worcester Red Sox were formerly the Pawtucket Red Sox until the team relocated to Worcester. The team is scheduled to start its first season in Worcester’s brand new Polar Park this spring.

The team is not commenting on the suit yet.
