WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio)Worcester Public Schools announced a $3.75 million-dollar grant it is using to benefit Worcester Technical High School's Plumbing and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning programs.

The grant is a portion of Governor Maura Healey's announcement that 28 schools in the state received about $70 million-dollars in grants to support Career Technical Education programs.

In Worcester, Superintendent Brian Allen said of the grant, “The Worcester Public Schools is grateful for this significant investment by the state in our programs at Worcester Technical High School. This grant allows Worcester Tech to enhance its cutting-edge learning opportunities in these skilled trades that will benefit our students.”

The grant will be used at Worcester Tech, in part, to modernize facilities and equipment, upgrade lab spaces, and invest in training students in green energy skills.

Gov. Healey said the statewide grant is helping to support the growing demand in the state from families and students for career technical education and preparing workers as they enter the workforce.
