WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The name of the new Red Sox' AAA-affiliate team in Worcester is...exactly what you'd expect.
It's been 15 months since the announcement that the Pawtucket Red Sox would be moving to Worcester, but the team was officially announced as The Worcester Red Sox at a press conference Monday evening.
"The Woo-Sox is gonna be the name of the new team," Worcester Mayor Joe Petty told WBZ NewsRadio hours before the announcement was official. "People were calling it the Woo-Sox before they put the contest out, but I think it's got a good ring to it!"
They'll be the Paw-Sox for one more season in Pawtucket, Rhode Island before moving to Worcester.
