Worker Dies In Apparent Construction Accident In Swampscott

SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Monday afternoon, the Essex County District Attorney confirmed that one person was killed in an apparent construction accident at a quarry in Swampscott.

First responders received an emergency call at around 1 p.m. reporting a "problem in a rock crusher suspended over a quarry" in the Aggregate Industries facility on Danvers Road. The worker victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and their identity is not being released until the next of kin is notified.

Swampscott Town Administrator says the community's hearts go out to the victim and their family.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the state Department of Industrial Accidents, along with local fire and police departments responded to the scene to investigate.

Aggregate Industries is a building material company that specializes in commercial landscaping, concrete work, and contracting, among other services.
