EASTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A construction worker who was killed in the Government Center Garage collapse in Boston just over a week ago is being laid to rest on Monday.

Peter Monsini, of Easton, will be honored at a funeral in Brockton on Monday morning, and a funeral mass at Holy Cross Church in South Easton at 11:00 AM. A private cremation will follow, according to his obituary.

Monsini was in a piece of heavy construction equipment when the floor at the garage gave way a little over a week ago, and he fell nine stories to the ground.

The man is described as a devoted father who cared greatly for his only child, 17-year-old Anthony, and worked as an demolition man running heavy equipment for decades.

A ride-by of construction vehicles was held in Easton on Saturday to remember the man.

A GoFundMe specifically dedicated to Anthony, whom Monsini had sole custody of, has more than doubled its goal of $5,000.
