BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A night of flaring emotions took place for members of the figure skating community all over the world at TD Garden Wednesday night, the second day into the World Figure Skating Championships.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu gave remarks in remembrance of the victims of a January plane crash when a Black Hawk helicopter collided midair with an American Airlines flight. Many members of the ice skating community died on the flight, including six people from the Skating Club of Boston.

The six members included teenage skaters Jinna Han and Spencer Lane, along with their two mothers, and coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.

On Thursday, officials with the National Transportation Safety Board, Federal Aviation Administration, and U.S. Army will testify in a Congressional Hearing regarding the incident and the many close calls that have occurred in the past.
