BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Wyc Grousbeck will no longer remain governor of the Boston Celtics under the deal to sell the team, which was reached in March, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
New owner Bill Chisholm is instead expected to take over as governor after the $6.1 billion sale is finalized. Grousbeck is expected to stay on as CEO and serve as an alternate governor.
This marks a change of course from the original plan. Grousbeck was originally expected to remain governor through 2028.
