BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio)David Zaslav was booed and jeered throughout his Boston University commencement address at Nickerson Field on Sunday.

BU graduates yelled “Pay your writers, we don’t want you here and shut up Zaslav” as the head of Warner Brothers and Discovery spoke at the school’s 150th commencement exercise and accepted an honorary degree.

The chants and boos started almost immediately as BU President Robert Brown introduced Zaslav.

Zaslav did deliver his entire 20-minute address hitting on themes of perseverance and for graduating seniors to pursue their passions. “You’re going to have to figure out a way to get along with everyone,” he said. “And that includes difficult people.”

Outside the commencement ceremony, picketers were marching since 11:30 a.m. on Commonwealth Avenue near Harry Agganis Way.

Zaslav is one of the CEOs at the center of the ongoing Hollywood writer’s strike.

Many students are upset with the nearly $290 million in total compensation with stock options Zaslav is said to have made over the past two years.
