Zdeno Chara Is 'Fine' After Bloody Hit

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Bruins rallied from an early two goal deficit to beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2 in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, but defensemen Zdeno Chara didn't leave the game unscathed.

Late in the third period, Chara blocked a Vladimir Tarasenko shot off his left forearm, catching enough exposed skin to cause a bloody injury. Visibly in pain, Chara left the ice prompting some fans to worry. But the 42-year-old captain quickly quieted concerns.

“I’m fine,” Chara stated after the win. “I just got a cut. So, I just needed a couple of stitches.”

Chara and the Bruins take on the St. Louis Blues in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final Wednesday at 8:00pm.
