Are Struggling Celtics In Need Of Veteran Leadership?

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Celtics erased a 21-point Blazers lead, but once again lost to drop to 7-6 overall after a 1-4 road trip.

Al Horford, what's the plan?

"I need to play better, and just get back in the ways that we can play and we can dominate," he said. "It's tough, it hurts, but we can't hang our heads, we have to look further for the next game."

Horford tweeted, "We will get better and figure it out."

He's probably right. C's are still very talented, and just two of their next 17 games are against teams that currently have winning records.

Kyrie Irving took the optimistic view. The All-Star said of the bad trip, "We needed this. We’re not as good as we think we are. That’s really what it comes down to … For us to be special, we just have to get through some challenges."

But, Irving also added, "Right now I think it would be nice if we had someone that was a 15-year vet, a 14-year vet that could kind of help us race along the regular season and understand it’s a long marathon rather than just a full-on sprint."

Irving must mean someone with championship experience. Otherwise, shouldn't this be Horford? Unless, ya know, 12 years doesn't qualify.

Celts-Bulls Wednesday.
