NightSide with Dan Rea - Rundown for 2/15/18

The Psychology of a Killer!  Nikolas Cruz is accused of planning and carrying out yesterday’s school shooting in Florida, and is now facing seventeen counts of premeditated murder.  Students who knew Cruz described him as a troubled loner who had even joked about shooting up the school in the past.  A white nationalist group called Republic of Florida has stated that Cruz had also participated in paramilitary drills with the organization.  Despite all of that, the gun he used to carry out yesterday’s shooting was reportedly purchased legally.  Tonight, Dan will be joined by psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow to talk about the psychology of a killer, and the lasting effects that going through an experience like yesterday’s attack can have on the members of the community.  Call in and join the conversation!

WBZ Cares!  Every month, as part of our ongoing WBZ Cares series, we highlight the good work done by a local charitable organization.  This month, Dan welcomes Alexandra Glazier, President and CEO of New England Donor Services, into the NightSide studio to talk about organ and tissue donation, and how you can get involved or find out more.  Call in with your comments or questions and add your voice to the mix!

Warren Defends Her Heritage Claims!  Senator Elizabeth Warren has been dealing with criticism over her claims that she has Native American heritage since she first ran for the Senate in 2012.  After spending years ducking questions about the issue, she delivered a speech yesterday at the National Congress of American Indians, defending her claims and attacking President Trump for using “Pocahontas” as a derogatory nickname when referring to her.  Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson checks in to talk about the claims Warren has made in the past and how yesterday’s speech stacks up.  Tune in to hear how Warren explained her family’s history and why she refuses to back down from her claims.  Do you find her explanation credible?  Are you skeptical of the timing of the speech?  Call in and add your voice to the mix!
