NightSide with Dan Rea - Rundown for 3/5/18

Have the Oscars Peaked?  Last night, members of the Hollywood elite gathered to congratulate each other and hand out trophies as they do many times a year.  While the Oscars used to be a pinnacle event for the entertainment world, viewership has fallen dramatically in recent years.  In fact, last night’s Oscars hit an all-time low for viewers, averaging 26.5 million.  That’s down nineteen percent from last year’s show, which was already at a nine-year low.  Why do you think the Oscars are having a hard time bringing in viewers?  Did you watch last night’s awards show?  Will the Oscars ever regain their glory or will viewership continue to fall?  Call in and tell us what’s on your mind!

Are Electronic Health Records Worth the Trouble?  As technology becomes more and more prevalent in all phases of our lives, we have become focused on how to use it to become as efficient and thorough as possible.  But for some in the medical field, the reliance on electronic health records has become more of a burden than a benefit.  With more and more forms for doctors to fill out, there is less time to spend face to face with patients.  Dr. Alan Cole, an endocrinologist and internal medicine specialist, joins Dan in studio to talk about why he believes electronic health records actually go against the patients’ interest.  Would you rather have your doctor filling out forms or spending more time with their patients?  Call in and join the conversation!

Why Didn’t Obama Act on Russia?  Democrats and the mainstream media have been running a fear campaign against Russia ever since President Trump won the election in November 2016.  But for all their bluster over collusion and election meddling, Democrats have not always considered Russia a serious threat.  In fact, in 2012, when Mitt Romney said that Russia was the biggest global threat to the United States, President Obama and fellow Democrats ridiculed him for being out of touch and stuck in the past.  Yet, just four years later, the Democratic Party is now claiming that Russia is a significant threat to the integrity of our democracy.  If Russia was such a threat, why didn’t Democrats act when they were in power?  Does their failure to do so undermine the entire narrative they are currently spinning about Trump colluding with Putin in 2016?  Call in and add your voice to the mix!
