NightSide with Dan Rea - Rundown for 3/19/18

Police Chief Favors Sanctuary State Bill!  Brian Kyes, Police Chief for the Chelsea Police Department and the head of the state’s Major City Police Chiefs Association, is supporting a bill in the Massachusetts legislature that would limit the cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities.  The Safe Communities Act has received some criticism, but after a major change that would allow local authorities to detain individuals for federal authorities for up to six hours, the Major City Police Chiefs Association officially endorsed it.  Chief Kyes joins Dan in studio to talk about the bill and why he feels it is a step in the right direction for Massachusetts.  Do you worry about Massachusetts becoming a sanctuary state?  Call in and sound off!

Trump Talks Tough in the Granite State!  President Trump spoke in New Hampshire earlier today, laying out his administration’s plan to combat the opioid crisis.  During the speech, President Trump talked about the importance of building the border wall, proposed using the death penalty to go after drug dealers, and argued that sanctuary cities create safe havens for those looking to bring drugs into this country.  Do you think the death penalty should be on the table when sentencing drug dealers?  Do you agree that the border wall could help keep drugs out of this country?  Are sanctuary cities making the opioid crisis worse?  Call in and join the conversation!
