Police Chief Favors Sanctuary State Bill! Brian Kyes, Police Chief for the Chelsea Police Department and the head of the state’s Major City Police Chiefs Association, is supporting a bill in the Massachusetts legislature that would limit the cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. The Safe Communities Act has received some criticism, but after a major change that would allow local authorities to detain individuals for federal authorities for up to six hours, the Major City Police Chiefs Association officially endorsed it.
