The “Forgotten Frontline Workers”. Today, in an effort to smooth out what has been a rocky vaccine rollout in Massachusetts, the Baker Administration announced that they are introducing a new pre-registration system for vaccination appointments. In general the process to sign up for a vaccine has been troubling for many but even more so for grocery workers throughout the state who keep getting pushed further back in the phased rollout plan as other groups such as adults over 65 and now teachers get prioritized. Almost three dozen lawmakers are joining unions' calls for Gov. Baker to prioritize grocery workers for the COVID vaccine. Rep. Carmine Gentile says our grocery workers are “exposed to the virus by community spread” every time they start their shift and he joins Dan to discuss.
In-Class Deadline. The Baker Administration says all K-8 public schools in Massachusetts are to resume in-person classes five days a week by April 5th. The move overrides local school officials on the grounds of adverse academic and mental health impacts from remote learning, as well as research which finds that in-school transmission of COVID-19 is rare. Why are we waiting a month to re-open the schools?
Stutter or Memory Issue? U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn of South Carolina says he is not concerned with President Biden's mental acuity after the president appeared to forget Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin III's name this week. Clyburn says it’s just a stutter and not an indicia of a memory problem. Do you agree with Clyburn's explanation?
