Handcuffing the Police. This week the Boston City Council passed a bill in a 7-5 vote that would limit the use of tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets, flash-bangs, beanbag rounds and other tools that could be used against out of control crowds of people. This bill that is strongly opposed by many police unions was previously vetoed by former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh but is expected to be signed by Acting Mayor Kim Janey. Are you in favor of limiting these police tools?

The “Worst Attack on Democracy”? Last evening during President Biden’s address to Congress, he said that the January 6th attack on the Capitol was “the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War”. Was it? Additionally the president had a lot of big ideas that will cost big money. Who is going to pay for that? Both CNN and CBS put out polls where a majority of their viewers approved of Biden’s speech. Do you approve?

An Open Letter to LeBron. 24-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department Deon Joseph wrote an open letter to LeBron James following LeBron’s tweet targeting the Ohio police officer who shot Ma’Khia Bryant. Joseph invited LeBron to sit down and have a civil conversation with him saying, “I can help you understand the reality of the profession of policing, and that there is another side you need to hear.” Do you think it’s possible for two individuals such as these men to help bridge the gap between policing and society’s distaste for police? LAPD officer Deon Joseph joins Dan to discuss.
