Nightside with Dan Rea - Rundown for May 17, 2021

The Granite State Stands By Flags at Half-Staff. New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu says the President disrespected law enforcement when he reversed his proclamation ordering flags at half-staff for Peace Officers Memorial Day which this year also falls on Armed Forces Day. The U.S. flag code reads “The flag shall be flown at half-staff on Peace Officers Memorial Day, unless that day is also Armed Forces Day.” Should the flag be lowered anyway as a sign of respect for those in law enforcement who have died or been injured in the line of duty?

Israel and the AP. This weekend Israel destroyed the high-rise office building in Gaza which houses the Associated Press headquarters for the region, Al Jazeera, and Hamas military forces. The AP has condemned the action even though they were given notice to clear the Jala Tower and no one was killed in the attack. United States delegate to the United Nations Human Rights Council, Jeff Robins joins Dan to discuss whether the Israeli defense forces did the right thing.

Hypersensitivity Reaches New Depths. A Spanish politician was locked out of Twitter for 12 hours after stating "a man cannot get pregnant." An adjunct professor at St. John's University in New York was fired after reading out loud an excerpt from a Mark Twain book because it contained the "N" word. A Jeopardy contestant is raked over the coals because he inadvertently made a hand gesture that has been interpreted by conspiracy theorists to mean white power. Has the woke patrol driven itself over the cliff?
