Firestorm in the Massachusetts GOP. The Massachusetts Republican party is asking one of their state committee officials, Deborah Martell, to resign after she wrote in a private e-mail that she was “sickened” that GOP congressional candidate Jeffrey Sossa-Paquette and his husband had adopted children. Martell says that gay adoption is against the tenets of her Catholic faith. Should Martell resign? Is Martell’s comments an extension of freedom of belief? Jeffrey Sossa-Paquette joins us tonight to discuss.

TCI is Getting Smaller and Smaller. The Transportation and Climate Initiative is now down to 3 out of 13 participants after Connecticut scrapped its implementation of the program as part of a budget compromise. Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Washington, D.C. are now the only active participants left in the regional "cap-and-invest" program to limit carbon pollution from cars and trucks and generate resources to expand clean transit options and improve public health. Should TCI be shelved? Alli Roberts, Director of State Policy at Ceres, joins Dan to discuss.

Chris Matthews Checks In... Veteran political commentator and pundit Chris Matthews joins us tonight on Nightside to discuss his new book. This Country: My Life in Politics and History is both a sweeping portrait of post–World War II America and a memoir of the New York Times best-selling author and former host of MSNBC’s Hardball.

Presidential Trips. Vice-President Harris has returned from her first trip as the Biden Administration representative on the border issue. Harris received lots of criticism after a number of political missteps and embarrassments marred the photo ops including protesters, cookies with her own face on them, and repeated calls for Harris to go to the U.S. border instead of Central America. Would you call the trip a disaster or a success? Now, President Biden has embarked on his first foreign trip as president that includes a summit with Putin. Will Biden be hard on Putin? Will Biden’s trip be more successful than Harris’s?
