Crime Waves. Last weekend in Wakefield, MA there was an armed standoff between police and the group Rise of the Moors. Then, this week a 66-year-old man was found gunned down in his Seekonk apartment, and a Malden woman was shot and killed in her apartment. These crimes occurred just a matter of weeks after the Winthrop hate crime against two Black citizens and the Brighton stabbing of a local rabbi. Meanwhile, in Chicago there is an ongoing surge in gun violence. What is causing this spike in crime? Is it the defunding of police departments across the country? It is the declining number of police on the force or the failure to prosecute?

Maskless Madness. A group of local Winthrop High School graduates are being blamed for a daylong delayed American Airlines flight scheduled to fly from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to the Bahamas. American Airlines claims the students defied federal face mask requirements, were reportedly disruptive, playing loud music, shouting foul language, and repeatedly ignored requests from the flight crew. Were these students in the wrong for their behavior or do you think there is more to the story? What do you think about mask requirements amid a COVID vaccinated world?

New Pursuits. The COVID-19 pandemic forced many people to change the way they work, live, and engage in personal interests. For some people the pandemic birthed new hobbies, interests or even careers. For you, what new pursuit came as a result of the pandemic?
