Light Summer Reading. Belmont Public Schools is recommending that their elementary school students read books this summer on white privilege and whiteness. An example of one recommended book is, “Not My Idea: A Book About Whiteness”. The school system in partnership with the Belmont Public Library said many of the books on their list, “demonstrate how kids can be advocates and activists”. Are you in favor of or against Belmont Public Schools’ 2021 summer reading list?

To Exempt or Not to Exempt. The Massachusetts bill H2411aims to remove the current religious exemption for the required vaccines for Massachusetts students. Rep. Andy Vargas, the main sponsor of this bill, says, “whether we like it or not…human beings have a responsibility for the health and safety of one another.” Do you believe the state should get rid of vaccine religious exemptions for students? Rep. Vargas joins Dan to discuss his bill.

Combating Misinformation or Censorship? The Biden Administration is cracking down on misinformation when it comes to COVID vaccines. According to Politico, in response to the White House’s efforts to increase vaccinations and dispel false info, Biden allies including the DNC are planning to “engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS carriers to dispel misinformation about vaccines that is sent over social media and text messages.” Does this plan cross over into censorship? Are you okay with your digital correspondence being “fact checked”?
