Hypocrisy on Martha's Vineyard. Former President Barack Obama said he would scale back his 60th birthday bash on the Vineyard after blowback questioning the wisdom of holding an event for hundreds of people during a resurgent pandemic. Assurances that it would be close friends and family did not appear to be the full truth after photos were posted of an unmasked crowd enclosed in a tent dancing the night away. Is outrage over what many are calling the hypocrisy of President Obama, still considered a leader and spokesman for his party, justified?
Booster Bound or Vaccine Regret? NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci says it’s likely that the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, will need to get a COVID vaccine booster shot as might the rest of the population depending on the durability of the existing vaccines. This news comes after the head of the World Health Organization called for a moratorium on boosters claiming that while an extra vaccine shot could heighten immunity, it could also have unintended effects, both on a personal level and from a global health perspective. Are you ready for a booster shot or are you regretting getting vaccinated before all the data was out?
Cuomo's Final Straw? Late last night, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's top aide Melissa DeRosa resigned less than a week after the release of a report from the state attorney general found the governor had sexually harassed 11 women. DeRosa had taken part in an effort to discredit one of Cuomo's accusers by leaking personnel records. She also came under scrutiny for her role in the administration's underreporting of COVID-19 deaths in state nursing homes. The resignation comes on the eve of a state Assembly's Judiciary Committee meeting regarding the possible impeachment of Gov. Cuomo. Will DeRosa be the final piece in Cuomo's downfall?
