Where Were You When the Lights Went Out? Eversource is still mopping up after this week's bomb cyclone, which contained winds reaching 94 mph knocking out power to half a million New Englanders. With a new weather system inching towards the area, power companies are doing their best to get everyone back up and running. Eversource Executive Vice President Penni McLean-Conner joins Dan to discuss what is involved in the herculean task and what precautions you can take to prepare for the next storm.

Stepping up in Medford. A progressive activist group in Medford, MA has been very successful in getting candidates elected to both the city council and the local school board which has raised concerns among parents as to what the future holds for school curriculums. One local man has decided to not just vent at public meetings but to put his money where his mouth is, running for the board. Dan speaks with Medford resident, firefighter, and school board candidate Colin Walsh.

Merrick Garland in the Hot Seat. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland appeared this week in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee where he was roasted over the Justice Department’s initiative to investigate parents who have been extremely vocal in communicating their displeasure with certain school board actions. Garland's action on the subject has been painted by Republican members of Congress as an attack on the right of parents to voice their concerns on subjects such as mandates, CRT, and sex education. Did Garland do the right thing?

Reparations for Immigrants. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Biden administration is proposing to give illegal immigrant families that were separated at the border during the last administration an estimated $450,000 per person in compensation to resolve lawsuits claiming lasting psychological trauma from the process.
