Pay Us Back! Massachusetts is trying to recoup $2.7 billion that they overpaid on 719,000 unemployment claims over the course of 16 months. For a majority of the claims, the state was entirely at fault for the overpayment, not the individual. Rep. Joan Meschino has introduced a bill that would expand the criteria for waiving overpayments for people who didn’t commit fraud. How did these mistakes at the Department of Unemployment Assistance occur? Rep. Joan Meschino joins Dan to discuss.

Gov. Sununu Checks In. Today, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has written a letter to the Massachusetts Supreme Court regarding his “grave concerns” surrounding the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Harmony Montgomery. The governor talks to Dan about his questioning of the Massachusetts’ court handling of Montgomery as well as how New Hampshire is currently handling the investigation.

Appeals Court Seeks to Vacate Sampson Convictions. Gary Lee Sampson was in the process of appealing his execution for the murders of Philip McCloskey and Jonathon Rizzo when he died. Even though Sampson never contested his guilt, a federal appeals court has decided to consider vacating Gary Lee Sampson’s murder convictions due to his pending appeal. Dan discusses the Sampson case and the court’s consideration to vacate the charges.

It is estimated that upwards of 2 million Uyghurs are in “re-education camps” in China. As of late, human rights activists have warned U.S. Olympic athletes getting ready to go over to Beijing not to criticize China while there out of fear of prosecution. Should the U.S. bow out of the Olympics? Are we legitimizing China’s human rights crimes by attending the Olympics?
