Vaccination Mandate for Boston Workers Paused. The Massachusetts Appeals Court has temporarily paused Mayor Wu’s vaccination mandate for city workers represented by 3 public safety unions that was set to go into effect this Monday. The pause comes days after the public safety unions filed an appeal of a judge’s earlier decision that rejected their push to block enforcement of Wu’s mandate. Holocaust Remembrance Day. Today marks 77 years since the liberation of the Nazi run concentration camp Auschwitz. On this day we are reminded of the ever-growing importance of Holocaust education and how we must never forget. In recent years there has been a concerning global rise in anti-Semitism. According to the Anti-Defamation League, Massachusetts is sixth in the nation for the highest number of anti-Semitic incidents. Fending For Themselves. An increasing number of rideshare sexual assaults in recent years is forcing many female Uber and Lyft drivers to fend for themselves. According to the most recently released data Uber had 3,000 sexual assault claims in 2018, and 42% of those reporting were drivers. Then in 2019, Lyft reported more than 1,800 sexual assault claims. Despite Uber and Lyft’s efforts to improve safety, their main focus has been on passenger safety leaving many female drivers feeling unsupported and unprotected. Journalist Anna Betts of The Verge joins Dan to discuss.
Open Season On Police? There has been a string of highly publicized police slayings over the course of the last week. Two NYPD officers were shot and killed in the line of duty when a deranged man opened fire on them while they were answering a 911 dispute call. Then, a Houston-area law enforcement officer was shot and killed by a man residing from El Salvador, during a routine traffic stop. Dan addresses the rising attacks against our men and women in blue.
