NightSide with Dan Rea - Rundown for March 17, 2022

Abandoning Standard Time…Wait A Second. The Senate passed a bill that would make Daylight Savings Time permanent. While many are proponents of this change, some health experts are claiming Congress is going in the wrong direction. Experts say it’s the standard time that would be the better choice to make permanent as shifting the day forward by an hour disrupts humans’ natural circadian rhythms. Dan discusses the possible health consequences of abandoning standard time.

Boston’s Rising Rents. Rents are up 20% over the last year in Boston. Boston is on track to becoming the second priciest city for renters in the country. New York and then San Francisco remain the most expensive city to rent in but right now the median price of a one-bedroom apartment in Boston is $2,720 a month and rising! How should rent costs be controlled? What’s your solution?

Unrest in Ukraine. Destruction continues in Ukraine where the latest attack includes a Russian airstrike on a Mariupol theater that was serving as a shelter for hundreds of women and children. The building was still targeted despite the word “Children” in Russian written out in giant letters across the front and rear of the building. Fortunately the building withstood the air bomb as 130 people have survived but rescue efforts are still underway. Dan discusses the latest in Ukraine.
