A Break For You But Not You… Despite the state collecting $400 million more in tax revenue than expected, MA lawmakers are not budging on gas tax relief or other tax breaks for citizens. Yet, lawmakers want to spend $20 million to pick up the tab for prison phone calls. Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson told the Boston Herald that “inmates pay for phone calls because it’s “a privilege” they surrendered when they committed a crime.” Should MA spend $20 million to cover our prison population’s phone calls? The Last Stand. Ukrainian forces besieged in Mariupol have rejected Russia’s demands to surrender. Russia now warns that those still resisting “will be eliminated”. Political activist Noam Chomsky caused quite a stir over the weekend when he vocalized that Ukraine needs to “face the reality that the only alternative is a diplomatic settlement” … In other words, surrender.
