Adding A New Official Holiday? Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson is pushing to make Eid al-Fitr, a day that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, an official city holiday. If the holiday is approved, that does not necessarily mean the city will get the day off. Is it about time that Boston recognizes Eid al-Fitr as an official city holiday? Are there other holidays that should be recognized too?
“Betting” on a Change. Today the MA Senate began their debate on a bill that would legalize sports betting in the state. However, the bill up for debate would not permit collegiate sports betting. More Aid. President Joe Biden is asking Congress to approve $33 billion for military, economic, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The White House said this aid would cover Ukraine costs through Sept. 30th, which is the end of the current fiscal year.
