Cape Cod Supports Ukrainian Refugees. Two local men from Cape Cod have taken it upon themselves to start a grassroots organization solely devoted to providing relief for Ukrainian refugees in Poland. Given the devastating war in Ukraine that uprooted millions of Ukrainians, Tom Johnson says, “This is a moment of desperation that requires immediate action to potentially change the course of generations of lives.” Tom Johnson and Jim Peterson of Ukrainian Relief Mission Charitable Corporation join Dan to discuss their efforts.
Out on Parole. A New Jersey Supreme Court granted parole to former Black Panther Sundiata Acoli, who was sentenced to life in prison for the May 1973 shooting of New Jersey state trooper Werner Foerster. At 85 years old, the Court ruled that Acoli is no longer a risk to public safety. Meanwhile Acoli’s accomplice, now known as Assata Shakur, is living out her days under asylum in Cuba. Is Acoli’s parole a slap in the face to every police officer? Dan breaks down the case.
Black Bears Are Expanding Across MA. The black bear population in Massachusetts is continuing to grow. There are now about 5,000 black bears across the state compared to around 100 back in the mid-70s. As the bears increase in population, they are also expanding east of I495.
