Baker Veto to be Overridden. The Governor contends the license could open the door to non-citizens voting in Massachusetts elections. Should the Senate and House change the legislation to take into consideration the Governor’s concerns or simply override the Baker veto?
Homeless in San Francisco. Officials in the City by the Bay are planning to spend millions to combat homelessness. The plan includes long-term housing subsidies, short-term rental assistance, as well as behavioral health services. But the plan introduced by Mayor London Breed focuses on “Transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming” homeless persons. Should homelessness be addressed generally or based upon a person’s gender status?
Free After Shooting a President. In 1981, John Hinckley shot and wounded President Ronald Reagan, the President’s Press Secretary James Brady, Secret Service Agent Timothy McCarthy, and D.C. Police Officer Thomas Delahanty. On June 15th, Hinckley will be released as a free man, unencumbered by any parole supervision. The Federal Judge in charge of this case wrote “This is the time to let John Hinckley move on with his life, so we will”. Should any potential Presidential assassin ever be allowed to rejoin society without any supervision from authorities?
