NightSide with Dan Rea - Rundown for July 18, 2022

Hot, Hot, Hot! It appears Massachusetts is in for a scorching week! Today the Bay State was dealt two rounds of thunderstorms. Local meteorologists issued a severe weather warning for the evening thunderstorm. Then, a heat wave will be upon us for the remainder of the week with daily highs in the 90s. Heat index values may be in the 100 to 105 range on Thursday. Here to answer your questions and discuss how you can be prepared and stay cool is Meteorologist Tom Chisholm.

An Easier Way To Get Help. As a result of the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, that was first introduced back in 2019, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline finally went live. Those contemplating suicide now have an easier, faster, and more direct way to get help by dialing 988 instead of 911 or the old 10-digit hotline number. Will 988 make a difference in the fight against America's growing mental health crisis? How do we get to the root of the problem? U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton, one of the co-sponsors of the initial legislation joins Dan to discuss.

“Systemic Failures”. A 77-page preliminary investigative report was released by a Texas House committee on the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. The report found that it was “systemic failures and egregiously poor decision making” on behalf of law enforcement and school officials that failed to stop the gunman from killing 19 people at Robb Elementary School. Dan breaks down the investigative report and takes your calls on how this tragedy could have been prevented and or handled differently.
