Orange Line Shutdown Is Coming. In preparation for the month-long Orange Line shutdown, the MBTA has released its transit diversion plan. Two of four stops that were not included on the diversion plan’s shuttle bus route is the Chinatown and Tufts Medical Center stops. Jordan speaks to Chinese Progressive Association Executive Director Karen Chen and Tufts Medical Center Chief Operating Officer Diana Richardson about their concerns over the MBTA’s transit diversion plan.

Salman Rushdie Attacked. Famed author Salman Rushdie was brutally attacked in New York during a speaking engagement he had. Rushdie was stabbed multiple times including in the liver, neck, eye, and arm. Back in the 1980s after the release of the author’s 4th book, The Satanic Verses, the late Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa, or religious hit, on Rushdie after claiming the book was an insult to Islam. Jordan wants to hear your thoughts on the fatwa and attack.

Biden and Student Loan Forgiveness. President Joe Biden told reporters that he will make an announcement before Sept. 1st on where he comes down on student loan forgiveness. While Democrats including Sen. Warren and Rep. Pressley are pushing the President to forgive $50k of debt, the President made clear weeks ago that he was “not considering” that. Tonight, your thoughts on whether Biden should approve student loan forgiveness.
