Street Drugs Becoming Even More Dangerous… As if opiates were not already a big problem in Massachusetts with an estimated 18,500 opioid related overdose deaths reported over the last 11 years, there’s a new addictive sweeping the state. An animal tranquilizer called xylazine is now being commonly found in various street drug cocktails. Dr. Bertha Madras professor of Psychobiology at Harvard Medical School and director of McLean’s Laboratory of Addiction Neurobiology joins Jordan to discuss.
To Ban or Not To Ban. A Texas school district is receiving national attention for their 41-item list of challenged books that the district will review and potentially remove from their schools’ libraries. Included in this list are variations of the Bible as well as Anne Frank’s Diary: The Graphic Adaptation. How do school districts evaluate and decide on books to ban? Which subject matter should be allowed and what should be banned?
