Affordable Child Care for Everyone. U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren has introduced new legislation that would expand access to affordable child care to every American family. The bill would use a sliding scale that would determine affordable fees based on family’s income. Higher income families would pay no more than 7% of their income and lower income families making less than 75% of their state median income would be fully subsidized. Are You Worse Off Today? A new Gallup poll finds that half of Americans admitted to being financially worse off today than they were a year ago. Gallup says it’s rare for half or more of Americans to say they are worse off. The only other time this occurred since Gallup started polling was back in 2008-2009 during the Great Recession.
