Does Patriotism Matter Anymore? A Wall Street Journal poll asked Americans about the importance of patriotism and the results show a steep decline over time. In 1998, 70% of Americans said patriotism was “very important” to them compared to just 38% today. Additionally, there was a sharp drop on views about religion, having children, and community involvement. Have our American values changed over time for better or worse?
