Wrongfully Convicted. Fred Weichel served over 35 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. Weichel claims he was threatened by former mob boss Whitey Bulger to stay quiet about the 1980 murder of Robert Lamonica in Braintree, the murder for which he was blamed. A MA jury awarded Weichel $33 million dollars following a civil trial but under a MA state law he only received $1 million. Weichel shares his story with Dan.
