Commonwealth Behind on Reducing Plastics. Many stores in Massachusetts have already banned single-use plastic bags, but a new bill, if passed, will prohibit all Mass. retail stores from handing out these bags. Retailers fear customer price increases as paper bag alternatives cost significantly more per unit to produce, purchase, and ship to the Commonwealth.
