Guaranteed Income in Boston? Officials in Boston are mulling over the idea of a temporary guaranteed income program for the city’s poor residents. About 18% of the city’s residents are living below the poverty line. While a promising idea, where would the money come from to fund such a program? Segun Idowu, Boston’s Chief of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion said a potential program model could rely on philanthropic donors. Would you support a guaranteed income program in Boston?
“Affinity Classes” in Public Schools. One Illinois town has been battling a sizable academic achievement gap between Black, Latino and white students for decades. In an effort to improve grades for minority students, the school district is trying something new at their high school level. Evanston Township High School started offering “affinity classes” otherwise described as classrooms voluntarily separated by race. Tonight, Dan will explain.
