Politics Playing Out on the Southern Border. Today roughly 60 Republican congressional members took a field trip to Eagle Pass, Texas where they visited the Mexican border. The Republicans are pushing for stricter immigration policies in exchange for approval of President Biden’s wartime funding request for Ukraine. In addition, a GOP led House committee is advancing efforts to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over his managing of the U.S.-Mexico border.
