Then, Steward Health Care, the company that owns eight hospitals in Massachusetts is $9 billion dollars in debt and filed for bankruptcy back in May. The company has been trying to sell off its hospitals. Despite lining up buyers for six of the MA hospitals, Steward postponed, for the fourth time now, a final sales hearing before a federal judge. Carney Hospital in Boston and Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, Massachusetts are slotted to close at the end of August. We discuss this healthcare “crisis” in MA.
