Indigenous Peoples Day or Columbus Day…The Holiday. Depending what state or even what community you live in, today is recognized as either Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day. In recent years there has been much controversy over Columbus Day for its namesake Christopher Columbus and his reputation for the way he treated Indigenous people, with some calling for the renaming of the holiday. States like Vermont and Maine have made the switch to Indigenous Peoples Day, but Massachusetts has not…why? MA State Rep. Jeffrey Turco joins Dan to discuss.
Hotel Workers Strike in Boston! Hotel workers in Boston are on strike over increased wages and manageable workloads. UNITE HERE Local 26, the labor union representing the hospitality workers, has a total of 1,300 workers from the Omni Parker House and the Omni Boston Seaport hotels, Hilton Boston Logan Airport, and the Hilton Boston Park Plaza, who are on strike right now. That number could increase if more hotels join in on striking. Tonight, we discuss the ongoing strike and hear your thoughts!
