NightSide News Update. We kick off the program with four news stories and different guests on the stories we think you need to know about! For one of our segments this evening, singer Pat Boone joins us to talk about his new single, “ONE - Voices for Tanzania,” a song that highlights the philanthropic efforts to bring clean water to the people of Tanzania!

The Concerning Rise of Body Image Issues Among Children. A recent study from the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology found that people start developing unhealthy perceptions of their own bodies in early childhood. Researchers found that children as young as 7 start to judge their bodies in ways that eventually could lead to an eating disorder. In addition, during this age of filters and AI, the Mental Health Foundation warns that unrealistic body images that flood social media can cause people to strive for “perfection,” an unattainable goal that can lead to mood disorders as well. How much is social media really to blame and what can parents do to help their children have a healthy relationship with food and their bodies? Licensed pediatric occupational therapist Kelly Shoup joins us tonight to discuss!

“SignalGate.” The “Yemen Signal Chat” story of Trump Administration top security officials accidentally including a journalist from The Atlantic into their chat group, has been dominating the news cycle but also raising a lot of questions and concerns over how this mishap occurred. Tech experts say that you can’t get much better than Signal’s message encryption services to protect the privacy of your correspondence however, when discussing such classified information, you should really use a high security device that would make it nearly impossible to include a member of the public. Boston Globe tech reporter Hiawatha Bray will join us this evening to discuss!
