NightSide News Update. We kick off the program with four news stories and different guests on the stories we think you need to know about! For one of our segments this evening we will talk about a new report that reveals how everyday AI tools can be taught to steal passwords.

“The Great Healthcare Disruption.” Physician shortages in the U.S. are affecting health systems and organizations nationwide and are predicted to have long-lasting effects on public health. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, the U.S. is facing a shortage of up to 124,000 physicians by 2034, including 48,000 primary care physicians. Dr. Marschall Runge, Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs at the University of Michigan and CEO of Michigan Medicine will join us to discuss the shortages and how technological advances, policy changes, and emerging business models are fundamentally transforming American healthcare.

Can a President Revoke Tax-Exempt Status? Amid the ongoing feud between Harvard University and the Trump Administration over demands for the school to make extensive changes to its governance, admissions and hiring practices, the Trump Admin. has moved to revoke the university’s tax-exempt status. The status designation allows many universities like Harvard to avoid paying federal income tax. The question is, does Trump have the authority to do that? Harvard University Professor Steven Pinker, a member of The Council on Academic Freedom at Harvard, is concerned about the ongoing trend of government involvement over academic policy changes and will join us this evening to discuss!

Shooting at Florida State University. Today, a shooting occurred at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL where multiple victims were reported in the shooting. Reports say at least six people have been hospitalized. The extent of the injuries is unknown. A suspect has been taken into custody. This story is fluid, and we will be following it throughout the day and evening and will discuss the latest in the developing story, tonight.
