BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Based on the long lines in Boston's Public Garden Wednesday afternoon, lots of people had the same idea.

With school vacation week underway and a beautiful spring day on tap, families were flocking to the Swan Boats. "I've been coming here since I was a little kid," said a mother from Kingston. "My parents grew up in Dorchester, and now I'm taking my kids here," she said.

Her husband talked about tradition, not to mention finding fun things to do at the mid-point during school spring vacation week. "I just think it's a great thing for the kids to enjoy," he said. "It's a tradition for our family, and on a beautiful day, it's a nice little getaway."

Robin and Steve Maislin made the trip from South Deerfield taking their 8-year-old granddaughter Lily.

Robin said Lily looks forward to the Swan Boat ride every spring. "We had a tradition when Lily's dad and uncle were little that every year on spring break we would come here and do this until they told me they were too old," she laughed.

Meanwhile, Lily summed up how she felt about riding on the Swan Boats. "It's just fun. For no reason."
