BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The annual Copley Square Farmers Market has returned to Boston's newly redesigned Copley Square Park for the season.
Known as Boston's largest farmer's market, people gathered in the partially reopened plaza to indulge in everything from produce to seafood. John Kalissa with Happy Beans Roaster believes the updates provide space for more foot traffic.
"I prefer this to anywhere we were before," says Kalissa. "The changes are more space, cleaner, much cleaner, more organized. It's more modern."
Located in the heart of Back Bay, Bay Staters can visit the farmers market every Tuesday and Friday until November 25.
Copley Square Park partially reopened this spring after undergoing a nearly $19 million renovation that started in 2023. The updates include a new fountain, shaded seating, and additional space for events like the farmer's market. However, some Bostonians aren't pleased with the updated space is void of grass.
"It's not the same you know," said Hassan Soufan of Casbah Food and Pastries. "It doesn't hit as hard as what it used to be. To me, it just looks like a giant concrete slab."
The renovations to the park are scheduled to be completed by September 2025.
